Your portrait session is the beginning of a creative journey that extends well beyond the day we shoot. Whether you’re booking for family portraits, a high school senior session, an engagement, or a wedding, the process begins weeks or even months in advance. Beyond the session day, my role continues as I meticulously edit and deliver your cherished images and products. There’s a lot of planning and artistry involved in crafting your session experience!

My aim is to provide a personalized, tailored experience that starts with your vision.

Here’s an overview of the process and the crucial part you play in maximizing the outcome of your session:

Pre-Consultation/Discovery call

Think about your personal style and what you’d like to achieve from the session. Are we capturing serious headshots, a vibrant senior session, or a whimsical engagement shoot? Explore ideas for locations, poses, props, and wardrobe; the internet and Pinterest are fantastic resources for inspiration. This session should be uniquely yours, not just a re-creation of someone else’s vision!

The Consultation:

This is where I begin to learn more about you. Share your likes, hobbies, and what uplifts your spirit. This conversation helps you to feel at ease and often sparks ideas we can incorporate during our session. I also hope this becomes the foundation of a lasting relationship; I want you to think of me as more than just a vendor.

Feel free to ask questions, explore my portfolio, and discuss the style you envision for your session. If you’ve gathered some inspiring examples, bring them along! Let’s also consider how you plan to use your images — wall art, albums, save-the-dates, etc. — so we can refine your vision and decide on the best products for your needs.

Finalizing the Details:

Here is where we confirm our date and finalize locations and outfits.  Don't worry! I will help curate outfits for you and your family if needed. 

The Portrait session: 

The day is finally here! I’ll take a few moments to reconnect and capture some test shots before we dive into the session. And then… it’s time to enjoy! Relax and trust the process. If you’re feeling awkward at any point, don’t hesitate to pause so we can recalibrate. My goal is to capture real connection, and your authentic personality.   

Don't worry if you don't know what to do with your hands.  I will give you some instruction along the way, which is what posing really is-some instruction to help get the very best images. I understand that it can feel awkward. However, my expertise allows me to guide you to look your best through the camera's lens, ensuring images you will love! I will be there to help you feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.

I assure you, we will infuse plenty of fun into the experience!

Post-Processing:

Every image is carefully reviewed, and I select only those that meet my high standards. I will make necessary color corrections and perform light retouching, ensuring that it’s done by hand — no presets or filters here! 

The Preview and Ordering Session:

We will schedule a time, approximately two weeks after the session, to marvel at your stunning images, select your favorites, and order any custom products you desire. (Payment is due during the ordering session.)

Final Delivery:

The turnaround time for delivery is based on your selected products. Once your final images, wall art, and albums are in, I will notify you to arrange for pick-up or delivery.And now, you can enjoy your images! Whether you opted for wall art or a custom album to grace your coffee table, these memories will be treasured for years to come!
