AI-generated headshots are everywhere right now. They’re quick, inexpensive, and honestly, some of them look impressive at first glance.
But when it comes to building trust and creating a genuine personal brand, they can sometimes do more harm than good.
The biggest issue? They often don’t feel authentic.
A lot of AI-generated images smooth out every imperfection, sharpen every feature, and create a version of someone that looks almost too polished. Sometimes the photo looks slightly off. Other times, it barely resembles the actual person.
And people notice that more than we think.
When someone visits your LinkedIn profile, your website, or your social media pages, they want to feel like they’re connecting with a real person — not a digitally created version of one.
That human connection matters, especially for small business owners, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals who rely on trust to build relationships and grow their business.
There’s something different about a real photograph.
A professional photographer captures more than just what you look like. They capture your personality, your confidence, your energy, and those small natural expressions that make you feel approachable and genuine.
That’s difficult for AI to recreate.
And honestly, in a world where so much online already feels overly filtered and curated, authenticity stands out more than perfection ever will.
Your headshot doesn’t need to make you look flawless.
It needs to look like you.
People want to know who they’re doing business with. They want to recognize you when they meet you in person. They want to feel like the person behind the brand is real.
A professional headshot helps create that trust because it feels honest.
AI certainly has its place for creative projects and fun content, but when it comes to representing yourself professionally, authenticity still matters most.
Because at the end of the day, people connect with people — not perfect images.
